Cause: When
points are created on the GPS1200, the System
"tags" the point with a time stamp. If the points are uploaded
from an ASCII file, all points are given an identical time stamp.
The receiver tries to sort and display the points based on the
current filter. The default filter for the point database is sorted by
"Backward
Time" which in this case is not valid.
When trying to access a specific point (i.e. via "Stakeout"), the
System is unable to easily & quickly find the point in it's
database (since all points have the same time stamp) and this causes
the erratic performance.
Solution: After transferring a large point file to a job in GPS 1200, do the following:
(from Main Menu)
1. Press <3> "Management"
2. Press <2> "Data" (...your job points should now be displayed)
3. Press the "SHIFT" key, then press <F5> "FILT"
4. (From the "Points" tab) Change the "Sort" line from "Backward Time" to
(either) "Ascend Point ID" or "Descend Point ID"
5. Press <F1> "Cont" twice to return to Main Menu display
Proceed with your Survey or Stakeout job normally.
Things should behave much happier now (...a happy receiver is a
GOOD receiver).
